The extension of territorial boundaries of inter-connected electric power systems provides for a more economically efficient utilization of fuel and energy resources. This, in turn, requires a substantial knowledge of the current status and prospects for developing an interconnected system between Eastern and Western Europe. This book is the result of a task force meeting addressing such topics as the power system planning in Western and Eastern countries, multiple-attribute optimization and interactive decision support systems, and a number of new issues associated with power system planning.
