Abstrakt

This project investigates the relationship between the thermal response characteristics of human skin tissue on the forearm and blood perfusion using both experimental and numerical methods. Blood Perfusion (ω) is defined as the volumetric flow rate of blood through a given volume of tissue. A numerical model based on the bio-heat equation as proposed by Pennes in 1948 [1] is used to determine the value of perfusion from experimental tests. The core aim of this project is to develop a simple, cost effective and accurate device that can measure skin perfusion non-invasively.
