RIJKE-ZT PULSE COMBUSTION TECHNOLOGY FOR COAL

Abstract

Three Rijke-ZT pulse combustors for coal were tested. The diameters of their chamber are 300, 600 and 1000 mm with ratio of total length to diameter 6.5, 6 and 4.5 respectively, experimental results showed that Rijke combustors, which has constant cross-section along its axis, can not be enlarged for commercial use due to its large L/D ratio. Only Rijke-ZT ones, which has step figure, can be used for commercial units. A new opinion for heat driven sound in the Rijke tube is discussed in the paper.
