Abstract

Anode phenomena were investigated in dc arc plasma torch with water stabilized arc. The torch is equipped with external disc anode located downstream of the exit nozzle. Thus, direct observation of anode attachment region was possible as well as measurement of potential distribution in anode region using electric probes. Time changes of potential distribution in anode region were determined in the restrike anode mode from the probe measurements. Effect of anode. material on anode attachment motion was studied. Temperature of plasma in an anode jet was determined from spectroscopic measurements.
