AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE FLOW PAST CIRCULAR AND RECTANGULAR CYLINDERS AT SUBCRITICAL REYNOLDS NUMBERS

Abstract

Pressure distributions on the cylinders and hot film measurements in the wake of the circular and rectangular cylinders in various angle of incidence and aspect ratios were carried out in the Reynolds number ranging from 1×104to 1.5×105 characterized as subcritical flow regimes. From these measurements, mean velocity, turbulence intensity and spectral density distributions in the wake of model were calculated. Vortex shedding depending on Reynolds number, aspect ratios and angle of incidence were determined.
