Abstract

This research can be seen as part of the study of a new protonic conducting membrane for fuel cells, with the aim of reducing costs, without penalising their efficiency.
Using sulphonated polymers with a high resistance to thermical oxidation is one of the ways considered to be capable of bringing results to good applicatio.
In this paper is reported a study of synthesis and preparation of new proton exchange membrane (PEMs) for FC.
In the first part is described the sulfonation and caharacterisation of PEEK-WC, a particular type of poly(ether ether ketone), while in the second part is reported the synthesis of poly(aryl ether ether ketones) which were prepared by aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction of polycondensation from bisphenols and 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone in the presence of a base.
