Abstract

In horizontal tube bundle boiling, the heat transfer augmentation by inert gas introduced at the bottom was studied experimentally. The mechanism of augmentation was analyzed. It would be demonstrated by the effect of gas − liquid interfacial vaporization heat sink. The liquid − gas interfacial temperature adjacent to the heating wall were evaluated and compared. Several parameters affecting the heat transfer augmentation were studied and the results were discussed. The possible applications were suggested.
