A STUDY ON EFFECT OF MALDISTRIBUTION OF FRONTAL AIR VELOCITY ON HEAT TRANSFER RATE OF VEHICLE RADIATOR

Abstract

A numerical method, based on the energy balance of each element and correction method of downstream temperature, has been developed to calculate the heat transfer rate of cross-type heat exchanger. The effect of maldistributed frontal air velocity on heat transfer rate of radiator is introduced. The results show that present method is valid for thermal analysis and that by increasing the variable for nonuniformity of frontal air velocity, heat transfer rates are deteriorated and this effect is quantified.
