Abstract

The paper deals with the accomplished industrial application of plasma technology in the railways. Doubling of resource of separate tire of locomotive wheels due to plasma treatment is demonstrated using a great body of measurement data from the rolling stock maintenance. The marked differentiation in the wear intensity (nearly twice) is observed between main-line electric locomotives and local-line and shunting diesel locomotives.
