Preparation of Copper Ferrite by reaction of various precursors with the molten NaN03-KN03 medium

Abstract

The reactivity of various copper (Cu(N03)2·2H20, CuSO4 5H2O) and iron Fe(N03)3·2H20, Fe2(S04)3) precursors and of a copper iron oxalate complex (CuFe2(C204)2(0H)4·2H20) with the equimolar NaN03-KN03 mixture was investigated by thermogravimetry in order to prepare the copper ferrite, CuFe2O4. The obtained products were characterised by XRD, FT-IR and magnetic determinations.
