Preparation of lanthanum oxocuprate in alkali metal nitrate melts

Abstract

In order to obtain the best experimental conditions for La2CuO4 preparation, this paper studies the reactions in the following systems: LaX3 - CuX2 - E; La203 - CuX2 - E and [CuLa2(A0)2(0H)4(H20)6]Cl2 - E (where X = Cl, NO3; E = an equimolar (Na,K)N03 melt; AO = monodeprotonated triethanolamine). The formation temperature of La2Cu04 has been established by thermal analysis. IR spectra, XRD patterns data and magnetic properties of obtained lanthanum oxocuprate have been also determined.
