Journal of Flow Visualization and Image Processing is a quarterly journal aimed at publishing original articles to disseminate and exchange knowledge and information obtained through research on the principles and applications of flow visualization techniques, including flow image processing, as well as to internationally promote academic and industrial advancement and improvement of the techniques.
Manuscript Submission. Three copies of the manuscript (prepared according to the instructions below) should be sent to any one of the editors (including editors-in-chief ). Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been simultaneously submitted for publication elsewhere. The original typed manuscript and the original drawings should be retained by the author until the conclusion of the review process. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
Transfer of Copyright. Contributions to Journal of Flow Visualization and Image Processing are accepted only on the understanding that the copyright is vested in Begell House, Inc. All articles accepted for publication must be accompanied by a copyright release form signed by the author. This form is available from the editors. Where text, figures, photographs, etc., are reproduced from copyright material, the author(s) will be required to produce written evidence that appropriate permission to make such reproduction has been granted by the copyright holder(s).
Manuscript Preparation. All manuscripts must be submitted in English and printed double-spaced on one side of the page, with adequate margins. The following procedures should be followed:
Title, authors, and affiliations. The first page of the article should contain a brief, clear, and descriptive title. The names and institutional affiliations of all authors and the email and mailing address of the corresponding author must be included. The editor will communicate with the corresponding author in the process of refereeing the article and preparing the manuscript for publication. Unless the authors indicate otherwise, the address of the corresponding author will be included on the first page of the published version of the article so that persons interested in the work may write to that person if they so wish.
Abstract. Provide an abstract of between 50 and 150 words.
Introduction. Explain the purpose of the study, cite relevant work, and describe objective.
Body. Present details of the study, preferably divided into several sections identified by descriptive headings. Each section may be further subdivided.
Conclusions. Discuss the significance of the work, its limitations and advantages, applications of the results, and further work that should be done.
References. References to cited literature should be identified in the text in square brackets and grouped at the end of the article in numerical order of appearance. Double-spaced typing must be used throughout. References should be styled and punctuated according to the following examples: journal article [1]; book [2]; thesis [3]; report [4]; proceedings [5]; and edited book [6].

Always give inclusive page numbers for references to journal articles and a page or chapter number for books. Each reference must be cited in the text.
Equations. All mathematical equations should be carefully typewritten and checked so that a typesetter can follow the copy easily. Equation numbers should be Arabic numerals enclosed in parentheses on the righthand margin. They should be cited in the text as, for example, Eq. (3), or Eqs. (6)–(10).
Tables and Figures. All tables and figures should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals. They should be briefly and descriptively titled and should be referred to in the text. Each table should be typed on a separate page. Table footnotes should be keyed with superscript letters. Line illustrations should be in a form suitable for reproduction drawn in India ink on good-quality white article or vellum, and lettering on the original figure should be large enough to be legible after having been reduced in size on the final printed page. Photographs should be sharp black and white glossy prints. The figures should be clearly labeled, and figure legends should be typed double-spaced on a separate page
at the end of the manuscript. Four-color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charges for color printing will be provided on request. Good quality color prints must be provided. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of color prints deemed unacceptable. A letter acknowledging the willingness to pay for the color prints should be sent to the editor with the print.
Units. Units should be SI using prefixed in units of 103 (i.e., exa, peta, tera giga, mega, kilo, milli, micro, nano, pico, fento, and atto for the range 1018 to 10–18, respectively).
Spelling. Follow Webster’s Third New International Dictionary.
Refereeing Procedures. The editor will send the article to two referees who will advise the editor on the acceptability of the article for the journal. The editor will communicate the decision on publication to the corresponding author. The corresponding author may be asked to resubmit the article in a modified form.
Publication. Following acceptance of the article, the editor will transmit it to the publisher, who will typeset the article and provide one set of page proofs to the corresponding author. The proofs should be checked and returned promptly. Authors will be charged for excessive proof changes. Authors must submit an electronic file (Microsoft Word or Wordperfect), including all updates or revisions, with the final manuscript.
Translation. Authors in non-English speaking countries are requested to find persons who are fully conversant and competent in English writing and also familiar with the scientific language of flow visualization and image processing to edit or translate manuscripts before they are submitted to the editor. It will be most helpful to authors and the editor if manuscripts are sent for review to expert colleagues before they are submitted for consideration for publication.
