ABSTRACT

Influence of the axial approximation on spectral characteristics is under discussion. The investigation is based on band structure computation using kp-method with the envelope function approximation. Such investigation is carried out for different quantum-size semiconductors with and without application of the axial approximation. As an result of the performed investigations it is shown that the axial approximation results in a high inaccuracy as compared with bulk semiconductors.
