In this paper, we analyze a method of radar detection and identification of growlers through the reflections from the sea surface by using coherent radar of centimeter and millimeter wavelength ranges. The method is based on using the difference in the width of power spectra of signals scattered by objects and sea surface. Specific features of radar characteristics of objects and sea surface are considered and summarized, and the results of numerical simulation of detection and identification characteristics are presented. The influence of the growler shadowing by the sea surface on the accessible detection efficiency is demonstrated.
