    ABSTRACT

    A mathematically rigorous solution has been obtained to the two-dimensional electromagnetic eigenmode problem for an open resonator formed by circular metal cylinders as mirrors and a plasma cylinder inside. Based on a numerical implementation of the algorithm, the behavior of complex-valued eigenfrequencies and the coupling between eigenmodes of the open resonator and azimuthal surface waves of the plasma cylinder is analyzed in dependence on the structure parameters.
