ABSTRACT

The development of polarimetric radar research studies within the USSR and Russia, initiated during the late 1940's, is reviewed. Major monographs, research texts and books and some of the outstanding pioneering research papers are cited. It is demonstrated that polarimetric radar theory, metrology, systems technology, calibration and data processing are well developed in the USSR and Russia.
