Pozhar ABSTRACT Regularities of formation and development of spectral characteristics of a rhodamine 6G laser with an internally excited coaxial active element have been studied. For these purposes, dependences of kinetics of a lasing spectrum on concentration of the dye in an active solution and pumping energy have been studied experimentally. Distributions of a refractive index in a cross section of the active element have been calculated with the purpose of explaining features of the process of formation of the lasing spectra. It has been shown that the laser with an internally excited coaxial active cell can generate the radiation with a stable spectrum during the whole pulse if intensity of pumping radiation in a peripheral zone of the cell is low.
