Particularities of a new method for controlling the frequency of the clinotron self-oscillations using a special electrode positioned within the space of interaction between the electron beam and the periodic structure fields are investigated. Prompt controlling of frequency of an output signal at the oscillator output without substantial loss of power in the control circuitry is an important attribute of this method. It is proved that this method must apply plane oblique periodic structures as a slowing system. The opportunity of controlling the modulation characteristic slope is demonstrated.
