Perov ABSTRACT To interprete the resonance behavior of a screen perforated with beyond-cutoff circular holes, the natural oscillations of the screen (regarded as an open resonance structure) are investigated. A new approach is suggested to analyzing the causes of appearance of the effects like total transmission through the screen in dependence on the structure parameters. The polarization dependence of frequency responses is explained. High Q natural oscillations have been revealed for the first time as a primary cause of the resonances. These oscillations exist near the plane interface of the perforated metal layer and free space. The oscillation topology and polarization structure are investigated.
