Sultanov ABSTRACT On the basis of the Grenander pattern theory, the problem of the optimal target locating algorithm synthesis of images with the use of an additive image-noise interaction model taking into account both a turn and a shift within the discretization interval half-width of a reference map (RM) relative to a sensor map (SM) has been formalized for two-dimensional matrix-type correlative external navigation systems (CENS). For a collection of images distinct in the brightness uncertainty caused by different reasons and defining a probabilistic description, it has been proposed to represent the reference map with the help of different scales, which are determined by the admissible transformation groups (ATG) and are known from measurement theory. For a given image, this group must be determined experimentally. It has been shown that the problem of seeking an optimal transformation from a given ATG (the choice of a maximally similar RM) on the basis of the brightness component of an image, as well as selecting an optimally shifted and turned RM specimen, should be solved additionally in the calculation of each quality criterion value.
