Masalov ABSTRACT Under the assumption that the dimensionless oscillation amplitude of the high-frequency electromagnetic field is small, the electron movement equation is analytically solved to a sixth approximation. This allows us to find conditions of the hard excitation of oscillator and a relationship between the path angle and the amplitude of the incipient limiting cycle. Four hard excitation zones have been revealed on the path angle interval 0 to 30. The small parameter theory is shown to work well in the each zone beginning. But in the first zone of hard excitation, the peak of oscillator efficiency is beyond the validity domain of the small parameter theory.
