Lenchuk ABSTRACT The structure design of a digital frequency meter for meteorological signals is analyzed for the case of coherent signal packets. The errors due to discrete data taking are studied, and ways of reducing their magnitude are suggested through increase in the number of frequency channels and interpolated corrections of the maximum likelihood estimates. Mathematical modeling is used to obtain and display the dependences of the root-mean-square error of frequency measurements on the number of pulses in a packet, the number of frequency channels, repetition frequency of the processed pulses and the signal-to-noise ratio.
