  • Dear reader!

  • ABSTRACT

Our journal celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. In 1956, the first issue saw the light of the day due to the efforts of Prof. A.G. Ivakhnenko, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, later an academician of the Academy, and other researchers. Prof. Ivakhnenko has been an editor-in-chief for the journal for many years. Publishing a new journal was an evidence of maturity of the group of researchers in Kiev who had claimed their expertise in the area of control theory and control systems design.
Over the years, the journal has been evolving with regards to the changes in both the world and the control science, which broadly extended the application area. The journal started as a print for a small Kiev group of researchers in control theory. Later, the journal gained a high appreciation by the scientists in the former Soviet Union. The journal was acknowledged abroad as well. For a long time, it has been published in English in the USA by SCRIPTA TECHNICA INC., A Wiley Company, and later, since 1996, by BEGELL HOUSE INC.
Reflecting the development of informatics during the recent years, the journal changed the title to Problems of Control and Informatics in 1994.
Many our colleagues from the research centers of the Russian Federation and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States have been contributing to the journal. By tradition, the Jubilee issue No 1−4 contains the papers submitted by famous scientists which cover wide spectrum of problems.
