    ABSTRACT

Adaptive capacity of goldfish (Carassius auratus gibelio Bloch) for utilization of detritus, which is formed during cultivation of aquatic organisms in recirculating systems, and the influence of the detritus-containing diet on fish metabolism were studied. It has been found that feeding of fishes exclusively on detritus containing predominantly plant debris has adverse effect on the reproductive system and index of growth of goldfish. Exclusive feeding on detritus disrupts protein and carbohydrate metabolism with subsequent energy deficiency (ATP, ADP) affecting both body growth and protein contents in tissues. It has been stated that the most efficient method for optimization of vital activity processes in detritus-consuming fishes, being the sediment destructors, would be introduction into the system of additional food balanced by basic nutrients and caloric value.
