Forming of Biofouling on Artificial Substrates of Systems for Tertiary Aftertreatment of Sewage Waters

ABSTRACT

Tertiary aftertreatment (afterpurification) of sewage water for removing biogenic admixtures (organic carbon, mineral forms of nitrogen and phosphorus) can be carried out at artificial year-round-functioning biosystems developed on soft fibrous filler. The latter are made out of synthetic fibrous scraps (kapron, polyamide) serving as a substrate for organisms utilizing organic matter.
