ABSTRACT

Approaches to the use of microphytobenthos to estimate the ecological status of water bodies are presented. It is suggested that the taxonomic and ecomorphological structure and quantitative parameters of microphytobenthos communities are feasible to use for ecological assessment of water bodies.
