Zoobenthos of the Styr river in the vicinity of the Rovno NPS (the 30-km zone) was studied in summer and autumn 2000. Several indices were used in assessing the quality of the environment in terms of zoobenthic organisms. On the whole, in the main riverbed of the Styr river the quality of the environment may be assessed as “clean - slightly contaminated”. The discharge of heated waters of the Rovno NPS had little effect on the development of zoobenthos.
