ABSTRACT
The phenomenon of interannual variability of the frequency of occurrence of different phenotypes of albumin, one of the most important functionally specialized blood proteins, is described based on studies of the North Caspian population of Russian sturgeon (Acipenser güldenstädti). Long-term data testify to necessity of critical use of frequency indices of different phenotypes of a given protein obtained during short-term genetic and biochemical studies (one- and two-year observations). A unique biochemical polymorphism of the North Caspian Russian sturgeon has been discovered including 38 phenotypes of albumin.
