  • Long-Term Dynamics of Macrozoobenthos of the Kremenchug Reservoir

    ABSTRACT

Material on the development of macrozoobenthos in the Kremenchug reservoir since its construction in 1961 is given in the present paper. During the period of investigations, the biomass of "soft" benthos accounted for 3.98−15.30 g/m2, whereas its biomass without mollusks with the mass of more than 1 g was 10.57−160.00 g/m2 . Within 45 years, the number of species of invertebrates of the Ponto-Caspian complex increased from 4 to 28 at the expense of their introduction or out-invasion. In this case, the number of species of invertebrates of the European-Siberian complex decreased. Long-term succession of the ecosystem of the Kremenchug reservoir was responsible for the formation of the composition of macrozoobenthos according to edaphic conditions.
