    ABSTRACT

The conceptual approaches of V.I. Vernadsky concerning the role of the hydrosphere in biospheric processes are considered. The significance of the Earth water cover in forming the living matter as a geological factor is analyzed. The knowledge of mechanisms of functioning of aquatic ecosystems in a context of the integral biosphere concept is emphasized as an important task of the hydroecological science.
