Influence of Photoperiod on Growth and Intensity of Feeding of Fry of Some Fish Species

ABSTRACT

Constant day length and periodic (12/12) light accelerated the growth rate and increased the efficiency of food conversion of fry of Cyprinus carpio L., Carassius auratus gibelio (Bloch), Perccottus glenii Dybowski, Alburnus alburnus (L.), Leucaspius delineatus (Heck.), Poecilia reticulata Peters, while constant darkness caused the reverse effect. The last three species have shown more significant photoperiodic reaction than others. Acceleration of the growth was associated with improving of food conversion and increasing somatotropin secretion.
