In the epipelagic sound-scattering layers of tropical and equatorial frontal zones of the central-eastern Atlantic, 85 species of macrozooplankton have been registered. This plankton fauna was homogenous within the water area under study. A large-scale variability of distribution of macroplankton in that region of the Atlantic is provided mainly due to the maximal numbers and biomass formed near the frontal zones. The changes in taxonomic, dimensional, and trophic structures of macrozooplankton being under the influence of these zones are described.
