Yagodkin ABSTRACT Mixing in a tube of one-way twisted turbulent flows coming from two coaxial tubes is analyzed. The process of stabilization of combustion of a lean mixture by a small amount of rich-mixture combustion products was calculated numerically by a simple phenomenological combustion model. It is shown that flow twisting is an effective method for increasing the combustion efficiency; however, this can result in appearance of the region of flow instability with generation of a hysteresis loop. Optimal values of the governing parameters at which the flow mode is unique and the fuel is completely burnt at a distance of two gauges from the beginning of mixing have been found.
