    ABSTRACT

In superheating liquid at a rate of 106−107 K/sec, an anomalously high sensitivity of a heat flux to test conditions has been revealed. The characteristic features of heat exchange are due to the steep temperature dependence of the rate of bubble formation. The first bubbles appear and coalesce on a relatively more heated section of the wall. Further the vapor front propagates along the heater following the motion of the isotherm corresponding to intense nucleation. The model explains the nonmonotonic dependence of a heat flux on time.
