Syskov ABSTRACT Results of experimental study of nonstationary boiling of water subcooled below the saturation temperature in the case of pulsed heat release in a vertical tubular heater 9 mm in diameter are presented. Interrelation of variations in the heating-surface temperature and pressure in the bulk of the liquid with development of a steam-liquid wall layer in the structure is shown by visualizing the dynamic process. The experimental data obtained in the range of pressures 0.037−0.3 MPa, heating rates of a heat liberating wall 2000−6500 K/sec, and water subcoolings 5−110 K are generalized. An approximate theoretical model of the initial boiling of water is described.
