    ABSTRACT

This paper discusses heat transfer and fluid flow phenomena associated with boiling in microchannels having characteristic dimensions of about 10−100 μm, concentrating on arrays of parallel microchannels. Considered are flow distribution, flow instabilities, boiling inception, flow fluctuations, established boiling, and critical heat flux. Advanced manufacturing techniques make it possible to create channels that insure flow stability and enhance heat transfer.
