ABSTRACT
The results of the study of the dimensions and shape of vapor formations emerging during heterogeneous explosive pool boiling of organic liquids at saturation are presented. A stainless steel tube with an outside diameter of 2.5 mm served as a working section. The heating of the working section was quasi-steady. High-speed motion picture photography of the explosive boiling process with a speed of up to 25,000 frames/sec has been carried out. The studies have shown that the laws governing an increase of lateral dimensions of vapor formations that have appeared as a result of propagation of the evaporation front are similar to one another. In all the experiments, the exponent of the law of an increase of the cross-sectional dimension has proved to be the same for all cross sections and equal to the exponent of the law of vapor bubble growth. A computational relation for the generatrix of a vapor formation in heterogeneous explosive boiling at saturation conditions has been proposed.
