DH supply systems in Lithuania undergo various modernizations aimed to increase their efficiency. Typically, modernizations include replacement of substations, reduction of heat losses in pipes and a more efficient heat production. The new substations equipped with automatic control devices were found to impact the operating parameters of DH networks. Results of hydraulic and thermal simulation allow estimating a potential deviation of heat carrier temperature depending on loading variations during the day and night. Specific technical measures can be applied to avoid low temperatures that do not meet heat supply quality requirements.
