    ABSTRACT

    In this article the main criteria were introduced, on which, in my opinion, models designed for evaluating energy or just power systems should be compared. In more detail differences between optimization and computational models and importance of time segmentation (load curves and load regions) in these models were addressed.
    Two models, MESSAGE and Balmorel, were considered stressing their weaknesses and strong points according to the principles discussed above.
