    ABSTRACT

Large quantities of building materials are used in the expanding building industry. The production technologies of building materials require relatively large quantities of energy and increase environmental pollution. The tendency of energy decrease in the production of building materials is recognized in our country, but it falls below the corresponding indices in the EU countries. The problems of effective energy use and environmental pollution in the building material industry are related with introducing new energy saving technologies, reduction of material density and with the effective use of building materials in many-layer constructions.
