This paper investigates numerically the effects of forced circulation on transient thermal distribution and fluid flow inside a room with through-flow resulting from a warm influx as well as a cold influx. An adiabatic partition plate is vertically placed on the wall of the room. The effects of the partition on suppression of thermal stratification in the room are visualized graphically. A two-dimensional system is adopted. The dimensionless parameters governing the transport phenomena are identified. The governing differential equations in dimensionless form are numerically integrated by means of the finite difference technique. Results are obtained for the time history of the fluid-flow pattern and isothermal pattern, and the bulk temperature in the entire room. There is an optimum partition location for uniform thermal mixing performance in the room.
