    ABSTRACT

A model of optically-induced breakdown in individual liquid droplets resulting pulse of laser radiation is developed. Heating and evaporation of droplet, formation of vapour aureole, its ionization, and expansion of shock waves in surrounding space are considered as separate stages of the process. The breakdown conditions and the intensity of laser pulse required for optical breakdown depending on the size of the droplet and the radius of the laser spot are investigated and computed.
