    ABSTRACT

A new arbitrary thin shell finite element is presented, based on the relations of the three-dimensional theory of elasticity and isoparametric concept. Procedure of double approximation of strains upon the special system of points, where the error is minimal, is used for avoidance of the "locking phenomenon". The results of a few test examples show high accuracy on rare meshes.
