SPRAYING ANGLE AND SPRAY POLYDISPERSITY IN MODELING OF THE AERODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF FGD TOWERS

ABSTRACT
A model predicting aerodynamic characteristics of a flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubber with polydispersed spray is developed on the basis a/two-dimensional, nonstationary droplet motion. The model predicts pressure drop caused by the spray, the concentration of the dispersed phase, and its residence time in the system. A comparison of the results with those obtained from models assuming either monodispersed spray or solution carried out for polydispersed spray and vertical droplet motion is performed. The effects of spray polydispersity and two-dimensional droplet motion are discussed and explained.
