    ABSTRACT

This article describes a new concept explaining the liquid atomization phenomena seen in swirl atomizers where there are regimes in which liquid, particles are subject to further breakup by centrifugal forces. This concept explains the regime in which increasing viscosity leads to decreasing droplet size. Existing experimental data are used to validate this new methodology.
