Hofbauer ABSTRACT Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) is a promising technology for CO2 capture. In this system, a metal oxide acts as an oxygen carrier between an air and a fuel reactor. A mathematical model of a CLC system with an integrated solution of the mass and energy balances was set up. Evaluation of the effect of numerous design and operating parameters, such as fuel and oxygen carrier type, was carried out. The results of the model reveal that additional reactor cooling and oxygen carrier flow have to be chosen properly to guarantee appropriate temperatures in the reactors and complete fuel gas combustion.
