Lin ABSTRACT The effects of Agaricus brasiliensis extract (ABE) on the functions of lymphocytes of a mouse spleen in vitro were investigated. Mouse spleen lymphocyte proliferation induced by ConA was assessed using both normal lymphocytes and lymphocytes inhibited by cyclosporin A or hydrocortisone. Mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) was conducted with lymphocytes preincubated with mitomycin C and normal lymphocytes from C57BL/6j mice. ABE (5 ~ 100 μg/mL) can enhance the proliferation of mouse lymphocytes stimulated by ConA in vitro and can partially restore the response of inhibited lymphocytes to ConA within 5 ~ 50 μg/mL. ABE (10 ~ 500 μg/mL) can also enhance mixed lymphocyte reaction. ABE can enhance the immune functions of lymphocyte in vitro.
