Unilateral neglect is a syndrome encountered during stroke rehabilitation. It is marked by an often severe inattention to the left side of the environment and, at times, to the patients’ personal space as well. It has implications for rehabilitation outcomes, both functional and length of rehabilitation stay. Understanding the complex anatomy of the attentional network can assist in our evaluation and classification of such patients. However, the most important goal is to be able to determine appropriate therapy, pharmacological and other, for individual patients. This review introduces readers to different therapeutic interventions and helps give them a basis for clinical decision making.
