The article deals with the diversity of chlorococcal algae in the flora of Ukraine. General zonal and azonal factors of distribution of species and formation of the flora of Chlorococcales are described. The problem of endemism in the flora of Ukraine is discussed, as well as the validity of application of the term "flora" in algological studies, and acceptability of making comparisons at the infraspecific level.
