Regularities of the spring-autumn dynamics of the vertical distribution of phytoplankton in a small forest pond located in the vicinity of Krasnoyarsk were studied. Four periods annually registered during the vegetation season were distinguished in the studied water body in terms of the vertical distribution of the concentration of chlorophyll a, values of phytoplankton biomass, and also in terms of the species composition of phytoplankton in epilimnion and hypolimnion. The data on the determination of the concentration of chlorophyll a in algae obtained by the method of fluorescence were compared to the values of algal biomass obtained by the method of a direct count of algal cells under the microscope.
